Anki is a flashcard program that utilizes spaced repetition to make memorization easier. Language learning is one of most common applications of it, and it can be used to supercharge your Japanese learning.
This guide aims to cover the initial Anki setup as well as integrating it with Yomitan to create flashcards personalized to your learning with just one click. Therefore, while not essential, we highly recommend you set up Yomitan before continuing. You can see how to set up Yomitan here.
Installation
Download and install Anki from here. Make sure to pick the correct operating system and choose the Qt6 release.
Set-up
- Download the addons here
- (Highly recommended) If you'd like to synchronize your Anki decks throughout multiple devices, click the Sync button and create an AnkiWeb account.
- Open the Add-ons page (Ctrl+Shift+A or follow the screenshot)
- Open the add-ons folder
